An electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG), a test that measures the electrical signals that control the rhythm of your heartbeat. The graph that shows the results is called an electrocardiogram.
Ambulatory electrocardiogram (Holter monitoring test), which monitors the electrical activity of your heart while you go about your usual daily activities. Many heart problems occur only during certain activities, such as exercise, eating, sex, emotional stress, bowel movements, or even sleeping. A continuous 24-hour recording is much more likely to detect any abnormal heartbeats that occur during these activities.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tab][vc_tab title=”Cholesterol Control” tab_id=”1440629553634-2-3″][vc_column_text]Do you have high cholesterol, also known as hypercholesterolemia? Abnormal cholesterol levels such as high LDL cholesterol or low HDL cholesterol are a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke. An unhealthy lifestyle can cause high cholesterol. Sometimes high cholesterol runs in families. A low-cholesterol diet can help improve cholesterol levels. If the low-cholesterol diet does not work to lower bad cholesterol and increase good cholesterol, your doctor may prescribe medications. We can help tailor a lifestyle change that can decrease your cholesterol and your cardiac risks.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tab][vc_tab title=”Circulation Evaluation” tab_id=”1440629577891-3-3″][vc_column_text]Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is narrowing or blockage of arteries that results in poor blood flow to your arms and legs. High blood pressure, also called hypertension, is dangerous because it makes the heart work harder to pump blood to the body and it contributes to hardening of the arteries or atherosclerosis and the development of heart failure.
The exact causes of high blood pressure are not known. Several factors and conditions may play a role in its development, including:
- Smoking
- Being overweight
- Lack of physical activity
- Too much salt in the diet
- Too much alcohol consumption (no more than 1 to 2 drinks per day)
- Stress
- Older age
- Genetics
- Family history of high blood pressure
- Chronic kidney disease
There are usually no symptoms or signs of high blood pressure. In fact, nearly one-third of those who have it don’t know it. The only way to know if you have high blood pressure definitely is to have your blood pressure checked.
If your blood pressure is extremely high, there may be certain symptoms to look out for, including:
- Severe headache
- Fatigue or confusion
- Vision problems
- Chest pain
- Difficulty breathing
- Irregular heartbeat
- Blood in the urine

Is it becoming more difficult to do routine activities because of difficulty catching your breath. . Asthma is a chronic disease of the airways that makes breathing difficult. With asthma, there is inflammation of the air passages that result in a temporary narrowing of the airways that carry oxygen to the lungs. This results in symptoms, including coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a lung disease that makes it hard to breathe. It is caused by damage to the lungs over many years, usually from smoking. With proper treatment, you can live well with these conditions. Yet inadequate treatment limits the ability to exercise and be active. Poorly controlled asthma can lead to multiple visits to the emergency room and even hospital admission, which can affect your performance at home and work.
Spirometry: This pulmonary function test for asthma or COPD is a simple breathing test that measures how much air you can blow out of your lungs and how quickly. It is often used to determine the amount of airway obstruction you have. Spirometry can be done before and after you inhale a short-acting medication called a bronchodilator, such as albuterol. The bronchodilator causes your airways to expand, allowing for air to pass through freely. This test might also be done at future doctor visits to check your progress and to help your doctor determine if and how to adjust your treatment plan.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tab][vc_tab title=”Sport Physicals” tab_id=”1440629875639-7-3″][vc_column_text]You already know that playing sports helps keep you fit. You also know that sports are a fun way to socialize with your friends and meet people. But you might not know why the physical you may have to take at the beginning of your sports season is so important. In the sports medicine field, the sports physical exam is known as a pre-participation physical examination (PPE). The exam helps determine whether it’s safe for you to participate in a particular sport. Many states actually require that kids and teens have a sports physical before they can start a new sport or begin a new competitive season. But even if a PPE isn’t required, doctors still highly recommend them.
